New Day International Church Celebrates Grand Opening

December 18, 2007

After a year of prayer, planning and hard work, New Day International Church in Almere, Netherlands celebrated its Grand Opening on September 16, 2007.

"About 140 attended the service held in a community center," said Pastor Peter van der Meijden.

During the grand opening Van der Mejden spoke about the need for an international church in Almere, one of the fastest growing cities in Europe.  An Almere city council member welcomed the church as a link to foreigners and internationals in the city. Terry Hoggard, Fellowship of European International Churches (FEIC) development coordinator, shared about God's dream for hurting and lonely people and encouraged the church to follow God's dreams.

The celebration ended with attendees releasing nearly 300 yellow and blue balloons over the community center.  Word was received back that one of the balloons landed in Germany, 500 kilometers away.

New Day International joins FEIC network members Hilversum International Church and International Church of Leiden in reaching the international community of the Netherlands.
